The works of this stage are characterised by clean, defined, linear strokes that convey clarity and uniformity. Each form reflects an orderly, sharp way of thinking, typical of early youth: a period in which, almost by surprise, a new ability emerges, driven by the need to express and clarify inner thoughts and emotions. The simplicity of thought and the early stages of building one’s beliefs are captured in pieces of remarkable cleanliness and concision. This period, marked by wonder and astonishment at a new talent, has its origin in Valdecaballeros, a small village in Extremadura.

The work reflects a delicate balance between chaos and order, where each stroke captures the intensity of heightened emotions and deep doubts. Elements such as social and academic references and personal introspection intertwine into a cohesive whole; the influences of art, of new projects and of other artists appear through the lens of existentialism, building a journey toward self-discovery.

That journey is rooted in a personal experience: Belgium, a defining moment of self-discovery that marked a before and after. Leaving his comfort zone and facing solitude made it possible to identify the shadows that had limited his behaviour, but it also charted the path toward a more authentic version of himself. The process was arduous, often long, but light always reappears in the end. A year in Liège reshaped the foundations of a way of thinking that had seemed solid; in that context arose a questioning of the social, the personal and the professional, giving rise to a renewed perspective that permeates the work in every line and form, marked by the significance of a first true love.

These works reflect a more mature personality, forged through self-knowledge, where the beauty of a simple stroke merges with more complex elements. This new complexity responds to a need for deeper expression, leaving behind the simplicity of the line to make way for linear and circular strokes that integrate cohesive social elements and a more ordered, deliberate introspection.

Belgium was a full stop in this process, but the story had to continue. It was the moment to reunite with himself, to put on paper all those questions and doubts, with the aim of reaching a version that was clearer and more in harmony with the person under construction. Thus emerges an artistic version dominated by an inner peace that slowly begins to find its own form of representation.

And it was then that colour emerged, bringing with it a new stage of artistic expression. A new series of works began to incorporate materials such as pastels, watercolours, markers, ink and even fire, marking a path of exploration and renewal. This series, organised chronologically, illustrates the journey of transition and maturation in form, where colour becomes the connecting thread of feeling. The tones intertwine, creating a harmony that brings the drawn forms to life, while the dark and light nuances emphasise the intensity of each emotion captured.

A visit to ARCO was perhaps the catalyst that made it possible to understand new ways of conceiving art. It happened at just the right moment, in a stage of exploration across every area of life, where opening up to the unknown encouraged experimentation with new ideas and conceptions. Curiosity and the excitement of understanding those forms transformed the work, which now reflects a renewed essence.

This present is marked by constant exploration, opening up horizons to understand the same fact from a range of differing perspectives. Facts, though neutral in themselves, admit infinite interpretations: we create our reality according to the eyes with which we look at it, just as happens with a work of art. It is this work of exploration that guarantees a wiser future, a future more coherent with oneself.
